How to get started..

The organization I am working with is this year is Green Life. It is new to USI this year and is just getting started. A group of students and I are working towards cleaning up our campus. We want to encourage recycling, conservation of energy, healthy lifestyles, a no littering policy and many more ideas to come. Our first problem is the funding to help get our club off to a good start. I am Fundraiser chair person of our group, which means I help led the group and take action in with the fundraising. On Thursday, March 26th 2009, we had moved forward with our first fundraiser. We had a bake sale from 11am-2:30pm. It when very well and we raised more money than we thought we would. Our next step is discovering new fun and exciting ways to raise money. We are going to have another bake sale on April 16th 2009 and a carwash on April 22nd, 2009. The carwash is going to be from 12- 4pm and will be five dollars. We hope to gain more help form the community in this carwash and in the future. If you have any ideas on new ways to help raise money, just let me know.

  1. i think that cleaning up our campus is an aawesome thing to do for Public Sphere Week. Not only would that benefit Green Life but it would also benefit everyone that goes to USI. A few ideas that i thought of while reading your proposal was some flyers, a brochure that explains what Green Life is and what it does, and maybe a poster board at sphere week showing some pics of the activities the group has done.

  3. Thanks for the suggestions you sent my way. You have some great ideas for fundraisers. The Car Wash classic and will always dish out some good cash flow. During our P.S.W. however, I would focus more on the organization itself and what you are trying to do. For students who are familiar with Green Life, maybe you could have a box where suggestions are taken. Students can voice there opinion on what Green Life could focus on for your guys' next project. Do we have any recycle place here on campus? If so, you could provide information on that....and if no then that is something you could think about starting once your funds are at a good point. Keep up the good work and good luck!
